TV is very important in our life. We can get to know all kinds of events around the world. We can know the weather,information, laws, knowledge and so on. After busy work, we can watch some funny programs to relax. TV benifits us, but sometimes it has bad influence. Some students watch TV day and night. It influences their lessons.Some programs are not good for children. So we should choose proper programs at proper time for people in different ages. Now TV has become necessary in our life. We can get all kinds of information through TV. The world is in front of us. The distance between countries is shortened with the help of TV.Every day we can watch some interesting programs to make us happy. Although TV has some benifits, sometimes it has bad influence. Some students have no time to study because they watch TV in all the free time. And some programs are not proper for children. So we should choose some good programs to watch, especially for children.

Television, as a popular means of mass media, appeals to people for various reasons. First, it allows us to see as well to hear what is happening in the world. Thus, most distant events are brought right into our homes. Second, it is very convenient. All we have to do is to press the button and sit there, enjoying ourselves. Finally, with a TV set, no matter what your interest is and what age group you belong to, you will always find programs to your taste: in short, TV has become so much part of our life that a world without TV would be unimaginable.
However, as some people argue, TV has disadvantages, too. For one thing, much of our good 6me is wasted watching TV and our work and studies are neglected. Another bad effect is that television viewers have become passive and lazy because they just sit there, letting things happen to them, instead of reading and thinking for themselves. Furthermore, influenced by some bed programs, many children, have come to believe that our world is one of violence and dishonesty. They begin to imitate every action of the TV actors and as a result, the crime rate has increased in some areas.
In spite of what bas been said, it should be admitted that there are more advantages over disadvantages in the use of TV. Being a modern device of communication, TV itself is certainly a good invention. As such, only when it is made use of properly, can it produce only good effects. If not, bad results will overweigh the good ones; then TV will become a burden or a killer.

Advantages and disadvantages of watching TV
Nowadays more and more people like to watch TV. So TV plays a very important part in our life. But watching TV has both advantages and disadvantages. Generally, the advantages can be listed as follows.
Firstly, you can expand your knowledge by watching TV. As we all know, learning things by TV is much faster than by listening to the radio or just by reading books. For it has colorful pictures as well as wonderful music.
Secondly, you may know anybody you want to know such as famous singers, super stars, scientists and so on.
What’s more, you can go everywhere by traveling programs. Let’s suppose, if you like traveling very much, but you have to work on weekends or holidays, you must be very sad. And now open your TV and it’ll take you to anywhere.
Every coin has two sides. The disadvantages are also obvious. For example, watching too much TV can easily become short-sighted, especially for children and students. To make matters worse, some young students are keen on watching TV so that they give up their studies gradually.
Through above analysis, I think watching TV is a way of studying, it is good for us to watch TV. But when we watch TV, we should make a plan otherwise watching TV will destroy our life.
