The other day the TV reported that a retired school math teacher, Beth Smith, has been volunteering for the past 20 years at a United Nation’s refugee camp in Thailand, helping kids who cannot afford to go to school learn math and English. I was deeply touched when watching the story, especially when the reporter asked Beth why she would spent all her time in a third world country volunteering, she replied, “By helping these kids, I feel I’m sharing my love with others, therefore I feel happy.” Her answer made me think about the virtue of helping others, and sharing your love with others. By helping other people, thus sharing your love, you also send out the message that people should be kind to each other, and love each other. And when those who are helped overcome their difficulties, they will in return help someone else, and give their love to someone else. Therefore, I believe, by helping others, we are sharing our love with others, and we are making a better society, and building a peaceful world.

I'll start on this one: Many years ago, I was dating someone who was living in London while I was living in Philadelphia. He revealed his plans to ensure that I'd be home to get it, a special dinner from our favorite restaurant was going to be delivered. Of course, I thought that he was really going to surprise me and show up at my house. Well, I sat home waiting and neither happened. The next morning, he called to explain that the courier had gotten too busy. Somehow our long distance relationship continued. For a few more months, at least.
